Abhisek Bhattacharya is an award-winning, internationally produced playwright. Born and raised in Kolkata, India, Abhisek has been writing plays since middle school. His plays have been performed worldwide, including in India, the USA, the UK, and Canada. Abhisek's English plays include "Neighbor! Neighbor!" "Photo Finish," The Return," "Catastrophe," "Strange Connections," "The Snare," "The Guardians of Lost Things," "Empty Night," "Wifey Unknown," and "Fragrant Vengeance." Abhisek's plays have been produced by, or in development with, Rebound Productions (London, UK), AmaZing Theatre Company (MD), Anacostia Playhouse (DC), Greenbelt Art Center (MD), Northport Plays (NY), Secret Theatre (NYC), International Human Rights Art Festival (NYC), Rogue + RiffRaff Theatre Festival (NYC), OmniArts (NE), Authentic Community Theatre (MD), SOOP Theatre Company (NY), Celtic Calling and TipJar Theatre (WV), Brisk Festival (LA), Midwest Dramatists Center (KS), and Equity Library Theater of New York (NYC). The short version of "Strange Connection" won the Best Play Award at the Authentic Community Theatre One-act Play Festival 2025 (Hagerstown, MD) and was one of the top three plays at the Transitions and Transformations: New Voices/New Works Annual New Play Festival (Anacostia Playhouse, DC, 2022). "The Guardians of Lost Things" was a winner (Top Five) at the Celtic Calling Festival 2025. "The Return" and the full-length version of "Strange Connections" have been published by Dramatic Chaos Productions (UK) and Next Stage Press, respectively. Abhisek is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America and lives in Maryland, USA.
